Elephant OBSERVATION:
It would be beneficial if we as business owners can learn from the animals in the bushveld. Domination, survival of the fittest, submission and adaptation to change are things that make it similar to the day to day running of our businesses. Sadly we still miss out on these lessons.
Every week we will look at these lessons and understand how to integrate it into our own businesses. We also need to understand that sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones to reassess and observe the changes we need to make.
OBSERVATION
Often as leaders we think we have to scurry around doing stuff all the time. When we stop for a moment we feel guilty and out of sorts. The greatest lesson in business is arguably from the elephants. Very little can cause stress in these creatures lives, yet they are very successful bush dwellers. Often seemingly standing doing nothing we wonder what is going on, if anything. But this is when the matriarch uses her senses to the fullest. She silently senses each of her herd, their position and where they are moving to. She notices each animal in the herd and communicates with them.
In the business world it is important to refrain from activity ever now and then and observe and focus on your team and their energy levels and commitment as well as your own. Guaranteed it will make a huge difference.
You will become aware of what is needed and where to encourage. As a business owner you will also feel rejuvenated and aware of what is happening in your business as far as morale is concerned.
